Moonstruck is the promotions arm of our booking agency Laughing Moon Productions. Moonstruck offers the following promotions packages. Packages can be customed designed for your specific needs.

There are a few things to understand about publicity before you consider hiring a publicist:

Publicity, unlike adverstising, is not guaranteed. Targeted efforts may go unrecognized and repeat attempts necessary.
Bands/artists must expect realistic coverage considering their current career status. You cannot expect the cover of Rolling Stone when no one knows who you are.
Bands/artists should have a budget set aside so that you are not relying on what you make per show to pay your publicity bill. A promotions budget is one of the most important parts of a good business plan.
Bands/ artists should not compare results. The exact same efforts for one band may not necessarily result in the same amount of coverage for another.

Moonstruck is not a graphic design business and cannot help with logos, posters, or cd designs. These can be co-ordinated and reviewed by Moonstruck but not created.

Crescent Development Package

The Crescent Package is designed with beginning bands in mind and encompasses band development. At the end of the 8 week period, bands should have a clear business plan, an effective promotional kit (including photo, bio, and cd), a clear understanding of copyright and publishing, a definition of their musical identity, target market and a plan to develop ideal fans. This is an 8 week targeted campaign intended to create a viable, sellable and presentable product to talent buyers and media.

Define a musical identity
Define strengths and weaknesses within the band organization
Define your ideal fan and develop marketing to get to those fans
Define a target market
Develop an organizational structure for band
Develop a business plan with long range and short range goals and objectives
How to: cold call, present your press kit,follow up calls, book shows,plan and implement media coverage, advance shows, performance etiquette, rebooking.
Oversee the design of an effective promotion kit (photos, bio, cd , overall style)

Half Moon Package

The Half Moon Package is designed for bands who are already playing on a consistant basis and who need help publicizing shows. These bands should already have an organization in place including a manager and booking agent.
Services are offered at a per month fee or on a per show basis. Bands at this level should have posters and a template for quarter page handbills. Moonstruck also needs promo kits for media. Band must have website.
When your agent books a show, he should ask for a media list and provide a contact name and number to Moonstruck so publicity can be started in a timely manner. This package targets SHOWS ONLY.

Create and send email press release to media and follow up
Send press kits to media and follow up
Send posters and quarter page handbills where applicable
Send press kits to local specialized radio programs and follow up
Set up instore performances
Send poster and cd to record stores and targeted lifestyle outlets (record stores, colleges, headshops, etc- lifestyle outlets will be different for different styles of music)

$700 up to 12 shows per month)
$1000 over 12 shows per month
or $75 per show for 3 to 6 shows
